The Red Ball
Following a family tragedy in Brixton, Bamike, a Black British teenager, is forced to migrate to Essex and subsequently confront the fantasies he has conjured of his dead older brother, Femi.
This animation is based on a true story of Writer/Director George Morgan and has been funded by Screen South and Creative Estuary. The use of animation allows this story, told from the perspective of a young teenager, to come to life in beautiful and unexpected ways.

The purpose was to explore and attempt to re-identify contemporary and historic perceptions of the Essex identity .

BASILDON MON AMOUR
Inspired by Hiroshima mon amour & Giri / Haji - this short film explores George Morgan's wavering relationship with Basildon since moving from Brixton in 2004. The use of movement in a seemingly exciting relationship conveys the sporadic nature that can be observed in both falling in love with a place and person.
UNAPOLOGETICALLY, ME
A beautiful monologue written by Sharan Atwal that explores the changing landscape and representation of Essex around and within us.

This is an interpretation of Princess Dinubolu that was directed by Anne Musisi. A black woman who defied all odds and entering a beauty pageant in Southend in 1908. There is no record of her history or her future past her participation in the pageant. This film is an ode to her and many other black women who came before her and will come after her- a reminder to push on even well all the odds seem against you.
I AM HERE
Tells the story of one man trying to decide which version of himself he intends to send to a big job interview. The discussions before writing the script were both cathartic and revealing of the peculiar state that black men inevitably find themselves in when having to navigate white spaces.
